I ate my first tartine a few years ago when I was in France. My brother discovered them at this great little boulangerie, Poilâne when we were in Paris, and I haven’t forgot them since then. An aside-for those of you who have never heard of Poilâne, it is a popular french boulangerie that people flock to to buy some of the most coveted bread in Paris. It’s most famous bread is a 2kg sourdough country bread, pain Poilâne, that they make and ship all over the world (you can taste some if you ever go to the Holt’s cafe, in Toronto).
For those of you who are asking, “what is a tartine”, simply put, it is an open-faced, toasted sandwich made on a dense, thinly sliced, loaf of bread. They are simple sandwiches, usually involving 3-4 different ingredients, but are packed with loads of flavor. We have come up with 4 very unique tartines ranging from a raspberry-goat cheese and crispy pancetta tartine to a more traditional tomato-avacado and brie tartine. All tartines are served with either a light salad or soup for $9.99.
So if you are looking for something different than a traditional sandwich, why not come in and order up a tartine.

I had one the other day and it was delicious!
Thanks for the great food!
